MAKEUP & SKINCARE

Camille Ariane is an established makeup artist based in Los Angeles, California. She already had an existing brand, but was looking to elevate everything with a brand that was more personal, more cohesive, and above all else, more professional. Camille was being scouted and commissioned for more and more significant projects by major companies and organizations, so we wanted to focus on a beautiful online presence that spoke to her high caliber of professionalism. For this project we kept the scope extremely simple: refresh her current logo, and breathe new life into her old website. Camille agreed, and from there we began the transformation of Camille Ariane Makeup.

 

LOGO

The new logo needed to have presence, but without too much personality or flair. We had to envision the updated logo not only as a standing mark for Camille herself, but as something transformation across a gamut of products as well. The logo needed to be have enough presence that we could see it in Sephora or Ulta, on skincare packaging, or even on a billboard. Longevity was the name of the game.

To start, we assessed the pros of the current logo: beautiful, capital, sans-serif letters. Next we moved on to the cons: “Ariane” done in the handwritten font made the logo feel too “blogger and journalistic”. There needed to be some contrast between Camille’s first and last name, so we explored 3 different font pairings. Ultimately we decided that the entire logo would be done in a simple sans-serif font. The goal was beautiful block letters that were sterile enough to be transformative, but bold enough to have a little personality.

WEBSITE

Camille’s old website already had structure, but was lacking organization and intention. We first started by dissecting the website into smaller pieces and then looking at the true intention for it all. The site needed to be a touchpoint for business, as well as serve as an archive for Camille’s entire body of work, and showcase all of her additional skincare services offered. Black and white images were used as visual support for the site, and also allowed for more focus to be placed on the beautiful makeup photography.

We broke down the homepage in order of importance and intention. First, we opted to showcase Camille’s four major areas of makeup front and center (Editorial, Bridal, Red-Carpet, and Lifestyle). The we wanted an immediate Call to Action (CTA) followed by a “Featured In” section to build credibility and trust. Next we showcased some of her recent work to build awareness about her craft, followed by client testimonials in an effort to tie everything together.

All other additional pages and components fell into place as each became a dive deeper into Camille herself as a professional makeup artist and her areas of expertise.
